Learning through Play

CHILDREN LEARN
Our aim at Treasure Children Forever is to ‘learn through play’. We encourage each child to be independent in all aspects of social skills and play, appropriate to their own abilities.
The staff will set a positive example to the children by listening and responding to them. Also encouraging the children to talk about what they are doing and asking them relevant questions. By listening to and observing the children, indiviual needs can be identified and a plan of action developed to meet those needs).
A copy of our planning is displayed on the notice board in the entrance. Alternatively, for further details, please feel free to approach any member of staff who will be delighted to answer your questions. All of these activities help a child to develop their imagination and play freely and creatively.

LEARNING AND PLAY
Treasure Children Forever Pre-School/Nursery follows the Curriculum for the Foundation Stage (published by QCA/DFEE). This curriculum provides stepping-stones to encourage a child’s development in academic, social and emotional areas. Learning and play opportunities are provided for the children both through planned activities and free play. We undertake to develop; earning among children by activities both inside and outside the building and also by visits and outings.

 

PLANNING 
A curriculum plan is developed for each term and displayed on the notice boards (both staff and parent/carer ones), ensuring that all areas of development are covered during the term through key worker activities. A copy of this is available for parents and carers to take home. The areas of development are:
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication, language and literacy
Mathematical and understanding of the world
Physical development
Creative development
However, all learning is backed by giving the opportunity to children to develop using their own initiative.
