S.A.F.E Club Tilbury
S.A.F.E CLUB
SAFE is an acronym for 'Social Activity For the Elderly'. The SAFE Club began in October 2004 in Tilbury after Ron & Jean Eacott felt that God was telling them to start the club as an extension of TCF. Their ethos for the club is to love and value the true worth of the elderly; a ministry of love to those who are sometimes ignored and even forgotten by society.
From small beginnings they now meet as a group of about 30 people every Thursday afternoon from 2pm-3.30pm @ St John's Church, Dock Road, Tilbury. Most peple are in their late seventies, early eighties. They play board games, many of which have been made by the members, have activities, visiting speakers, outings, but most of all, lots of fun and laughter. "There is always a meaningful reading during the time together, and we always finish with prayer", says Ron. "Although we do not push that it is a Christian club, the members call it that. One of our ladies, Di, said "I have never been to a club like this before." We believe that this is because God's presence is in the club."
